Review of Curtains (1983) by Rob R — 27 Jun 2010
This is another boring slasher that actually had a good premise and could have been so much better. It had flahses of brilliance, but they were few and far between. The one thing that was great though was the mask, but they really didn't actually show the killer and the mask very often at all, as they should have.
This is also another movie with just far to build-up that leads to practically nothing. I'm all for suspense, but this isn't suspense, it just seems pointless and time-wasting. I see a lot of great reviews for this movie, but I don't see it up there with a lot of other similar slasher films of the '80s at all.
It's original, I'll give it that, but they don't work with that originality enough, the thrown together twist ending being an example of that. That ending really just seemed simple like the type of twist just put in there for the sake of a twist and not because it actually made sense.
I actually had a few other twists that would have worked so much better that I thought they should have went with, bastards should have traveled forward in time and listened to my ideas, dammit! lol.
