An insanely opulent set desing provides the backdrop for court intrigue in China's Tang Dynasty. Despite the cast's strong kung fu pedigree, the combat takes a back seat to the drama and generally involves epic scale battles.
If you're looking for a straight up kung-fu flick, this is not it, but if you are willing to sit still and watch, a complex plot with intriicate subtleties await.
