Review of Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) by Sarah S — 02 Jan 2009
The stronghold of this film is without a doubt its massive battle scenes and coregraphy. The story lacks development and sometimes it feels like you are watching a crossover between soap-opera "Days Of Our Lives" and the Shakespeare piece "Hamlet". The intrigues are mainly chlichés and the cast must have had their difficulty bringing even the smallest illusion of depth into these stereotypes.
- Watch it for the beautiful images of magnificent settings and stunning battlescenes and expect nothing of the drama - then you will be satisfied afterwards.
