This is an awesome martial arts epic from the director of Hero, the best martial arts epic. The plot of this one is Shakesperean in its royal intrigue and plots within plots. Chow Yun Fat is the man, and he is so stately in this movie.
His character, the emperor, is an awful human being, but you almost root for him because Chow Yun Fat plays him so impressively. I loved this movie until the end, because it is almost like the director is giving you the finger with the way he chose to end this movie.
