The way I watch a movie affects how I rate a film overall. I had to watch the last 20 minutes on youtube with a terrible english dub.

Its impossible to showcase acting from another country when you dub over their dialogue with a simplified foreign language. It just doesn't work. That really butchered the ending and took away any emotion at the end.

Also, youtube quality sucks compared to dvd and I didn't get all the nice details foe the ending battle scenes.

Overall , this movie is great, but you need english subtitles and dvd quality to truly enjoy it.

Yimou Zhang's cinematography and use of vibrant colours make this a nice film to look at. The story is fine and so is the acting (if in original cantonese) as well as the battle scenes. It is slow to start, but ends with a great finish.
