Review of Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) by Dervilla O — 27 Mar 2010

In a word, splendid, in the real sense of the word! Set in the Forbidden City, China in the year 928 tells of the disintegration of an imperial dynasty. Excesses of visual opulence, symbolism, huge huge crowd scenes & choreographed balletic violence mixed with a most twisted central relationship, sexual intrigue, power & contol makes for a very very watchable movie.

I agree with the comment below, the climactic battle scene is just beyond epic.
