Review of Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) by Ryan V — 08 Feb 2012
Some may mistake this as another Zhang Yimou wushu film, but it's actually a tense drama about betrayal within a royal Chinese family. There are a few fight scenes, but the main pull of the narrative is generated by the Shakespearian-styled drama between the regal characters.
Not as arresting as Yimou's previous two films, but it still has more than a few good moments.
