Review of Curse of the Golden Flower (2006) by Swazmo Z — 06 Dec 2010

Jay Chou is a bad actor... I give a star to Gong Li herself cos she is really good. The visual is really nice but too colorful and impossible. If only it was darker, compatible with the story, I would probably appreciate it more.

It is rather too beautiful. It's almost like I want to like it but I don't want to like it. I appreciate the big scale, all the 3d stuff done for the movie (O yea, I know how hard it is >.<) but it is distracting.

The war is too beautiful cos there is too much gold. The story was really good and unique (which I really appreciate) but ruined by popping boobs. I mean i'm sure at that time chinese girls are supposed to close their body parts, not to show boobs around like that.

U can almost see the nipples...Yes it is beautiful, but it is also distracting, and kinda arousing for male audiences. I bet some would give more stars for the boobs. And since the visual is so beautiful, the acting cannot go to the same level.

I don't really understand the motives of poisoning the empress. If only the motives were stated better.. The story is very potential, but not going to the right way in the visualization.
