Review of Curse of Chucky (2013) by Erick R — 08 Oct 2013
Despite a couple of weak moments and a few unimpressive special effects, it's a return to form that manages to be as scary as chucky ever could be, at least for the first hour. fiona dourif is unendingly impressive in the lead and the supporting cast are clearly devoted.
what really makes this film great is the spirit and enthusiasm obviously present in its production. de palma/hitchcock/argento/bava influences are up the wazoo. the shots are fantastic. the music is great.
the after-credits sequence is the best scene in the franchise since the first two. my only real gripe is the confusing/contradictory ending.
