Review of Curse of Chucky (2013) by Matthew L — 08 Dec 2013
After the previous entrees in the series veered into 'Comedy/Horror' its nice to see Chucky returned to the more straight forward horror that the series began with. There are no major shocks to be had, we all know Chucky will come to life at some point but when he does the film is such a brilliantly played chiller that doesn't rely upon cats in the cupboard jumps.
Its a shame that this went straight to DVD, particularly after an apparently enthusiastic response from the crowd at the UK Film4 Frightfest, as you generally expect a horror franchise to have dropped massively in quality by this point. However, Curse Of Chucky ignores this trend and delivers a sequel of high quality that also, to a degree, brings the franchise full circle. Also be sure to stick around until the end credits.
