Review of Curse of Chucky (2013) by Guido S — 08 Mar 2014

As a fan of the series even when it goes completely off the rails in the later entries, I was interested in seeing this. Many years after we last saw Chucky, he is delivered to a new owner and family. They are not aware of this murderous ways and let him stay as the youngest daughter takes a liking to him.

Eventually, the murdering starts to happen, but they suspect each other doing it instead. Eventually they learn who Chucky is and that he knows their family from way back when he was initially put into the doll.

I felt that was a little hokey and didn't really work, but at least that was only a small scene and didn't hurt the rest of the film. Also didn't like the amount of CGI used for the doll. I realize robotics are expensive, but it never looked right and I much prefer the look of robotics.

A pretty solid entry, back more to its horror roots rather than the comedic route it took later on. Does also have a chance to bring the original Andy back with the after credits scene. Hope to see more sequels.
