Review of Curse of Chucky (2013) by Jimmy R — 28 Jun 2016
After the horrible excuse of a sequel that was 'Seed of Chucky,' I was really excited to hear that there was going to be another film that had a darker and less humorous tone, much like the first 'Child's Play' films.
Although 'Curse of Chucky' was Straight-to-DVD, I really didn't mind it all that much after seeing the trailer for the first time. While it didn't live up to my expectations, I still enjoyed it for what it was worth.
I'm not going to go into the plot or any spoilers, just that the most important thing, to me, is that his kid is seemingly out of the picture and Chucky is back on his solo adventures. Even though this was an average film to me, I was very glad that the creators decided to stick with a sequel rather than just remake the whole thing.
Personally, I still believe that 'Child's Play' should have ended after the third movie, but since this series is obviously going to continue (like most popular franchises do) I might as well hope that the sequels after this will continue down the serious path and make it's way back into theaters.
If you're a Chucky fan and have been wanting to see another Chucky film, chances are you've already seen it, but if you haven't, then I suggest you go pick up a copy and watch it. It's still a fun horror movie, nevertheless.
