Review of Curse of Chucky (2013) by Albert A — 08 Nov 2013
Not bad. It's great to see Chucky return to his murderous frightening roots, but the overall approach still comes off as somewhat confused towards the end.
What was at first a serious sequel to Child's Play 3, becomes a prequel in the films climax. On top of that, *SPOILER ALERT* this story arc's ending turns out to be the leading events to Bride of Chucky which then turns out to take a different approach that disregards the events of BoC and Seed of Chucky. This becomes a second ending which wasn't necessarry, but was definitely all about fan service. If that wasn't enough, a stinger after the films credits gives fans of the Child's Play legacy a real treat with a final ending that seems to end all things.
Therefore, Curse of Chucky turns out to be a sort of confused compilation that wasn't too sure what it wanted to be. It's a fun, much more serious way to end (?) Chucky's legacy, but leaves this Child's Play fan with the feeling that it could've been so much more.
