Review of Cube Zero (2004) by Anthony S — 26 Feb 2005
I Heart Huckabees- It is too quirky for its own good. Some find funny, witty, and compelling. I found it almost the complete opposite. I found it so unfunny at times that I wanted to turn it off and go to bed. It has its moments sometimes, but it doesnt lead up to anything.
Umberto D.- (changed from 8 to a 9 after second viewing. Also it is very rare for me to watch a movie twice in the same day. I am the type of person who watches their favorite movie every three months or even a lot longer than that. So it is quite a feet for a movie that caught my attention so much and made me watch again.) Umberto is a compelling character. You care what happens to him. If you didnt the movie would fall apart. Neo-realism at its finest. Compelling ending.
Cube Zero- This made-to-video prequel to Cube is better than most horror films today. A rehash of Cube with little bit more story to it. The ending ends at the beginning of Cube and works perfectely. Fun movie.
Cube- A fantastic horror movie that will keep you gripping your seat and watching feverishly. Very little story and a unresolved ending holds this gruesome movie back from being on the best in its genre.
Midnight Express- A good, but somewhat forgettable film.
