First of all, terrible acting. I think everything else about the movie suffered from that. It was just bad.
Second, I wish the writer of the first movie had done this one. I think he was shooting for something with this concept, but whatever it was, this movie missed the mark.
It's all about some other dimension where time and space and reality and sense are inconsequential. The big draw to this and the first movie is just the fun of seeing people stuck in a puzzle that seems impossible to figure out. The problem with this one is, it really is impossible to figure out! There is *no* answer, except that something sinister is at play. But the ending -- the ending was just ridiculous. It was shooting for creepy or foreboding or something, but it was just cheesy and ultimately pointless. Conspiracies are tricky plot devices to pull off, and in this movie it just didn't seem legit. Probably because it involved said other dimension where time and space and reality and SENSE are thrown out the window.
Had they given us more information at the end about who these people were -- other than some guy answering a telephone -- it might have worked better. I doubt it, but you never know.
Oooooh well.
