Review of Cube 2: Hypercube (2002) by Warren M — 21 Jun 2010
The sequal to cult classic "CUBE" is even more warped than the first - Effects wise it is good and the storyline is just the right side of weird to be enjoyable but sadly becomes very predictable towards the end...
A simple film with a low budget design - You will see what I mean - but some very nice touches that make it worth a viewing.
For those who keep comparing SAW to the CUBE Series - PLEASE STOP! There is one big difference! CUBE is supposed to be a bit of Sci-Fi fun where as SAW is supposed to be crime thriller! CUBE is FUN - SAW had to within reason be REALISTIC! They are two very different creatures but SAW obviously borrowed its inspiration from CUBE and made a more realistic story... And anyway - SAW AND CUBE ARE BOTH FROM LIONSGATE PRODUCTIONS!!! THINK ABOUT IT!
Sadly, its the predictable finish that lets the film down... But ist not bad for a little bank holiday mish mash.
Overall, I would say out of 10 this would be a 6.5... Fun and frantic if a little samey!
