Review of Cube (1998) by Larisa L — 27 Apr 2009
Saw this when someone mentioned it in one of the Eden Log reviews (as something supposedly better). The movie is really low budget, but that wasn't what bothered me as much as the 'acting' done by the 'actors' -- it's like watching someone's art school project.
What Eden Log lacks in pace, Cube excels as it imparts that sense of desperation and inevitable doom. What Cube lacks is atmosphere: the effects are mediocre (not really that bad, all things considered, at least it doesn't get in the way) and the set is, well, just a bunch of square rooms :P.
It's a good 92 minutes spent, especially if you like movies such as Saw.
