Review of Cube (1998) by Evan B — 14 Mar 2011
I was intrigued by the premise of this movie after seeing Splice last summer and looking up other films by Vincenzo Natali. I for one enjoyed Splice; I know it weirded out a lot of people, and I get that, but there are far too few provocative and philosophically stimulating sci-fi flicks these days.
Cube is a pretty good thriller, and itâ(TM)s a pretty ingenious how they filmed it all using a single cubic room and some (minimal) special effects. Thereâ(TM)s no huge twists or anything that you canâ(TM)t see coming, and the acting seemed a little over the top at times, but overall I found it pretty satisfying.
