Review of Cube (1998) by John A — 10 Jun 2014
With It's Basic Premise And Set This Claustrophobic Style Thriller, Works To Great Effect In A Nerve-Shredding Manor As The Viewer Watches The Cubes Victims Dodge Various Deadly Booby Traps. This Low-Budget Flick Reuses It's Sets For The Whole Movie, And To Great Effect As Every Time We Come Across Sets We Have Seen Previously The Trap Is Different.
Director Vincenzo Natali, Knows Exactly What He's Doing & Is Set Out To Entertain. Throw In A Cast Of Unknowns, A Very Believable & Somewhat Terrifying Plot And You've Got A Realistic Thriller, Which Has Been Presented Here.
As Always There Is Room For Improvement In Films, But To Try And Improve On This Would Be Pointless, This Is A Highly Enjoyable Thriller Which Is Straight To The Point In Which The Horrifying Events Start As Soon As The Film Starts, No Beating Around The Bush Here.
Was Followed By A Sequel, Cube 2: Hypercube.
