Horribly disappointing film. I had seen the trailer and thought ooh HP Lovecraft themed movie with a gay twist. The trailer looked really dark and creepy, but unfortunately the movie is really poorly written and the acting is pathetic.

The main character Russell Marsh had a bit of potential at first, but then after his return to the island all he can do is yell, run around and hyperventilate at the drop of the hat. You hope that his flashbacks are going to reveal some extraordinary secret, but instead of a nice build they just kinda tell you the secret near the beginning, after that there isn't really much of a story.

The rest of the movie is him again running around yelling and hyperventilating alot in scenes that are really oddly edited together without any explanation of how the scenes are suppose to flow. Oh did I forget that he get man-raped by Tori Spelling? Rooffied and man-raped! Unfortunately she's the best actor in the film and that was also the best scene.

I guess you're wondering where the gay part comes in? It doesn't really other than a gratuitous G rated make-out scene that doesn't give anything to the movie other than the right to market to the gay audience.

There's no chemistry between them which makes the ending ridiculous, where it could have been painful and shocking. If you're into gay cinema and have a love of HP Lovecraft, go for it, but otherwise you'll just wonder why you wasted 90mins.
