Review of C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America (2005) by Marshall W — 21 Nov 2010
Very funny movie, very thought-provoking, but implausible in some major ways. For example, slavery is illegal in every country on Earth, so I don't think it would still exist if a single war turned out differently. Also, the movie claimed that Hitler would have lost the war in this alternative history, even though Hitler was winning the war before America got involved, despite his ineptitude.
Also, the Union was just as racist as the Confederacy. Slavery was illegal for economic reasons, not moral ones. The American Empire rose after the Civil War and fought many wars of conquest in the name of white supremacy (though for economic reasons), for examples: The Western Frontier (which sparked the Civil War), Panama, Guam, Hawaii, the Philippines.
