Review of Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th (2013) by Johnathon W — 04 Feb 2018
Superb documentary that equals, if not surpasses, "Never Sleep Again", as one of the best films about a horror franchise ever made. It helps that one of the directors, Daniel Farrands, of "Never Sleep Again" worked on this one, and he & the other filmmakers deliver the same level of care & attention.
They get a great cross section of the cast & crew who worked on the films (including Corey Feldman, who serves as the narrator), all who give honest assessments of their work, from crew fights to how some films don't quite measure up (V & VIII don't fair well).
They even cover the TV series & remake, and how much it's effected pop culture in general (yes, that infamous NES game gets a mention). The caveat is that at nearly 7 hours, this, like "Never Sleep Again", is not for people new to the series.
However, for fans of "Friday the 13th" & Jason, this is a must watch, as you will learn everything you ever wanted to know (and some things you didn't) about one of the great horror franchises of all time.
