Review of Cry Freedom (1987) by Kathryn B — 06 Jul 2007
Steve Biko was one of the most influential voices in the fight against apartheid .... and yet so many people have never heard of him. This powerful adaptation of Donald Woods's, a close friend and confidant of Biko, book 'Biko' (which gives an amazing insight into what Steve Biko went through during the founding of his Black Consciousness movement) brought his story to the world.
We see Steves story through Donalds eyes. Attenborough is the king of epic drama. In my opinion Denzel Washingtons finest hour.
