Review of Cry Freedom (1987) by Daryn C — 03 Jan 2008
Great film...although don't expect it to be an in-depth film about Steven Biko. Most of the movie is about Donald Woods, the white reporter who had to flee South Africa due to his support of Biko. That's my only pet peeve is that the plot slips into the "great white savior" plot, which then overshadows the importance of the more relevant black character.
It is still a must see for anyone interested in social and political consciousness. And once again...gotta love Denzel!
