Review of Cry Freedom (1987) by Wayne C — 07 Jun 2008
Another tough movie. It is powerful. There is a price to pursue justice. Both Biko and Wood paid the price. The content is great but the movie suffers as it is really two stories, the first one is about Biko and the second one about Wood.
They are linked but somewhat disconnected (a crucifixation story + an exodus one). The atmosphere of the second part changes dramatically, which I think does not match the impact of the first part.
