Review of Cry-Baby (1990) by Melody Of Your Demise ~ — 17 May 2009
After a few years of not seeing this flick, I finally picked it up on DVD and I've fallen in love with Depp all over again!
This John Waters film takes place in 1950s Maryland where the drapes (greasers) and squares are in constant war. Alison, a square, falls for Cry Baby (Depp) a drape from the wrong side of town.
Every single thing that can be made fun of from the 50s like Elvis, way people should act etc are spoofed in this flick. This movie was the one that sparked my life-long crush with Johnny Depp. I just LOVE seeing him as "Cry Baby" and singing rock & roll.
I have a love for all things 50s, greasers, etc...so this movie is just my cup of tea. So if you love these things as well, why haven't you seen this film???
