One of the best movies ever! I love the time period of the movie and the styles they show. I know a lot of the previous comments say this movie is like grease but really it's not. Very little similarity, but there is a little.

Not as much a musical as Grease. I like music but I hate musicals and I hate Grease but I love this movie! Most of the musical scenes aren't random and pointless. I mean people don't just break out in song in real life, and although they do that in this movie towards the end, most of the music scenes are for a reason, concerts and benefits, and talent shows, not just random break outs.

The story line is great too. Yes there are some cheesy parts, like dramatic and exaggerated love scenes and ABC Bomber crap, but for the most part this movie is rather realistic. Families were really like this back in the day.

I know some families who still are. Drapes were a mix of greaser and grunge and I still know people who are that combination, and although their lives are a little more modern now, they stay true to their roots and don't like to take crap or be outlined by others.

So yeah, style, attitude, life style, all very accurate, with some comedy thrown in. The situation is very real too. Constantly following the rules and doing as others say gets old and being the rebel starts to look very intriguing, even the grandmothers situation is real, being set in a certain way and realizing that there's a better way.

Both learning that having a little fun doesn't mean you have to change completely. The great thing about Drapes is that although they hate the squares in this movie they would have been excepting of who ever these people wanted to be, even though they looked and talked different, if only the squares would have accepted them for who they were.

These people are my idols. I look square in the modern world but I have a heart of a modern drape, and I love it. People aren't accepting enough these days, or those for that matter. They could really learn a lesson from this movie if they would just open their minds and hearts.
