Review of Cruising (1980) by Roxanne R — 25 Sep 2008
Al Pacino plays a role unlike any he's done before or after! What I enjoyed the most was the chance to be a spectator into this "world" forbidden to women. The director takes you or should I say immerses you into the S & M gay leather scene of Greenwich Village.
Pacino plays an undercover cop tasked to catch a serial killer but this assignments is the most challenging he's ever had...to the point of losing his persona alltogether. Will our cop be the next victim of this vicious killer or will he catch this sick man before others fall prey to him.
I was not aware that the director had to cut some footage until I read it in the commentaries of others in facebook- that is a shame because the film is good. Did not bother me at all, on the contrary, I found it quite fascinating.
..I was blown away, this is another world indeed..its kind of shocking what goes on in some of those clubs especially back in the 80's....I wonder if much has changed since then...the film has a great soundtrack and I added it to my private collection.
.if you dare- then watch it!!
