Homophobic for sure, but more importantly it is incompetent and surprisingly shallow. For a purported exposé on underground homosexual S&M culture in 1980 it is not interested in anything but surface value.
It is as insightful a gander at gay culture as the Blue Oyster Bar scenes in "Police Academy".
