Review of Cruel Intentions (1999) by Patsy P — 28 Feb 2010
'Cruel Intentions' is one of the few late-90's teen movies that actually stands on its own merits. Although the plot is fairly interesting, it is the acting performances and dialog that make the film.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pro at the two-faced Kathryn and Reese Witherspoon plays the sweet, likable Annette to a T. Ryan Phillippe also doesn't disappoint in his obnoxious upper east side player role.
True, it doesn't deserve a ton of accolades on its face, but think of it as a guilty pleasure of sorts.
