THE VERDICT?
This teens' adaption of the French novel Dangerous Liaisons sees a gaggle of 90s movie teen icons playing sex, lies, and games.
It has lost some of its cool now that I've grown up, but at the time it came out when I was in my mid-late teens it was awesome. The dialogue is cheesy, even edging on farcical at times, but it captures the cruelty and manpulation of the modern world of teenage relationships all too well.
Gellar and Phillippe clearly relish their roles as mean and heartless sluts, whilst Witherspoon and Caldwell are at their innocent-virgin bests. Noted for it's iconic, string-of-drool included french kiss between Gellar and Caldwell, did they really give away free tissues with the DVD release?!
If you are a teen this is well worth seeing. For those who were teenagers back in the 90s you will find it a guilty pleasure at least.
