Review of Cruel Intentions (1999) by Inigo D — 03 Jul 2012
I am a fan of SMG's work so I thought: why not? I thought it was a horror movie, but it's definitly not. And that didn't dissapoint me at all. The script was very good. I haven't seen 'Dangerous Liaisons' but I'm more of a teen movie-type so I watched this. The casting was perfectly done: all the actors played their part at their best if you ask me. The four main characters (Kathryn, Sebastian, Anette and Cecile) were perfectly portrayed. The editing was good, but it definitly hit a new height when the ending was nearby. That ending was just plain perfect! I've seen the film one time and the ending like a 1000 times because it gets to me. And that is also by the use of a perfect soundtrack. Every song was perfectly chosen for the scenes. Especially the ending with the song 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' made me cry a tear (like Kathryn).
And that's why I give five stars. Simply because they don't make movies like this anymore! To me, that is a shame because this one had more depth then any other teen movie nowadays.
