Review of Cruel Intentions (1999) by Raji K — 24 Apr 2015
Ryan Philippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar are two wealthy teenagers who have the world handed to them. With all their desires fulfilled they feel the only enjoyment they can find is in taking pleasure in the misery of others.
Upon reading about a innocent girl (Reese Witherspoon) with values, a bet is made that Phillipe cannot deflower her as one of his many sexual conquests. Filled with jealousy, betrayal and lust Cruel Intentions was wickedly entertaining.
Gellar particularly stood out as the sexy and manipulative person pulling many strings to get what she wanted. Critics will somewhat be down on the modern setting and the overall character of the film, but I found it to be quite original and daring.
