Review of Croupier (1998) by Neil K — 07 Jun 2007
I was pretty disappointed with this one, especially with it's hype and cult following. I'll admit Clive Owen is great in this, but it just seemed like the whole thing was a lowsy BBC documentary on the downfalls of being a croupier.
Even calling it a documentary is too much, at least a documentary makes it feel real. Mike Hodges didn't really make any effort to stylize this flick. He threw in a few slow motion scenes and the occasional handheld shot, but other than that: borrring.
