Review of Croupier (1998) by Chris W — 01 Oct 2008
Croupier has to be one of the better movies in the gambling-casino genre. Clive Owen is perfect as Jack, a writer who doesn't just unapologetically blur the line between morality and truth, but plays with it.
Jack is an interesting, nearly schizophrenic, combination of introspective voyeur, and risk taking meddler. The movie has a thoughtful pace, and some open-ended plot elements that will keep your imagination going after the credits have run.
If Croupier leaves you with the desire to see another excellent movie in the same genre then check out Owning Mahowny.
