Review of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) by Alex P — 18 Mar 2013
Chow Yun Fat is amazing as Master Li Mu Bai! Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is still one of my all time favorite martial arts films. I don't like the film mainly based on the martial arts performed in the film even though the fight scenes are among some of the best.
I love this film because of the history portrayed between the main characters and the love they shared. I do think that the fights are strange in some parts like when they float around or fly, I'm not entirely sure why they added that into the fighting but overall the fights are still amazing! There is a great amount of character growth and a viewer can truly learn from analyzing the characters experiences.
Even though it is only a story. The most powerful scene is the death of Li Mu Bai. In the final moments of his life he finally expresses his love Yu Shu Lien whom Li Mu Bai had known his whole life. I have learned to say more often what I have felt in my heart to those around me, especially those who I have had romantic feeling towards just because of that death scene.
I really don't care what the response is as much anymore, but the greatest pain I could imagine is never knowing if they might have felt the same and I wasted my whole life never knowing, too afraid to say how I felt.
.. I still regret never saying how I felt to some of the women of my past because I was too afraid to speak my mind...
