Review of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) by Ben M — 31 Aug 2010
I t really concerns me that all the other comments posted about this movie declare it as "one of the best martial arts movies of all time". I seriously must be missing something. Yes, the hand-to-hand combat scenes were amazing, and had undoubtedly the best choreography work I've ever seen in a movie, but once the fighters got off the ground, I think that's where it ruined it for me.
They were freaking flying around through the sky! Jumping through trees, bouncing off the water, they looked liking flying freaking squirrels! The cheesy meter just hit a whole new level with this movie.
Apart from that, the acting was pretty good, but the story was boring. I've never really been a person who enjoys historical fiction anyways. This would have been a much better movie if the director had of kept it more "Matrix", rather than "Superman".
