Review of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) by Jon J — 04 Apr 2011

Very tough one to review. There are two aspects to analyze about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: the story and the fighting choreography. The story was a beautiful tale of romance and adventure that while deeply engaging, doesn't quite justify the means of making the movie amazing.

The fighting choreography on the other hand is out of this world and totally justifies was is the main strength that makes this film a winner. There are things I saw onscreen that I have no idea how they were accomplished by the filmmakers, but dammit they did it and what you see is incredible! A great amount of work definitely went into these scenes and they come off with an almost jaw-dropping effect.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is an exciting experience, and despite some considerations, I can barely resist not giving this a solid 5 stars.
