Review of Crossing the Line (1990) by Raven M — 07 Mar 2009
Some who didn't live through that time or where not part of that culture may wonder what this film is really about..... It is about pride, broken, lost, pride. A society searcching for what they lost but looking in the wrong place and going into a very dark place in that search. It is also, although she isn't even mentioned, about Thatcher, the archetect of the events that stole this countrys pride. When people can fight so hard for the right things and the society around them can crush then for all the wrong reasons, then they loose not only pride, but hope. When hope is lost...... as a society, what happens? Just look out of your window in any big city today.... that is the result of those days.
This film is a must see for anyone of that era and from the north, wether it be Scotland or the old pit villiages of the midlands and the north of England.
