Review of Crossing Over (2009) by Mark O — 08 Jun 2009
How dare they. Any movie that tries to make you sympathies with a teenager that stands up for the 9/11 terrorists should be ashamed of itself. For that matter all the people that are doing wrong (robbing a store where and old man is killed, blackmailing someone into sex, entering the country illegally and manipulating the system...) are treated as people we are suppose to care for.
I was so annoyed with the one sidedness of the themes and how the director tried to hide it by giving us Harrison Ford to distract our attentions that I found myself talking to the screen. As the film tried to make us feel for a teenage girl who was being deported, I was yelling at the screen, "What did you expect when you give a speech defending the 9/11 attackers" Or how about when a burglar is let free by a cop after involving himself in a robbery where a man is killed. Give me a break.
