This movie showed the lengths that some people will go to obtain a green card. I think it was Hollywood's way of making us sympathize with families torn apart when one (illegal) member gets deported from the US.
And yes..... it did tug at my heart strings a little but I am like my husband in this respect. Being in America is a privledge, not a right.
