Review of Cropsey (2010) by Tavis B — 23 Jan 2011
I am a big fan of documentaries, and when I seen the title of this I was like "What the hell is this?". What it is happens to be a very chilling tale of multiple abductions and disappearances from the 70's- 80's in Staten Island,New York. The term "Cropsey" comes from an urban legend that was told around campfires of boys scouts growing up in Staten Island about an escaped mental patient who abducted children and brought them back to the old abandoned asylum, where they would be butchered.
This urban legend took a big turn and left people wondering if it really WAS and urban legend at all once mentally ill children started vanishing. The film focus' on convicted kidnapper and accused child murderer Andre Rand, who is beleived to be responsible for all of the disappearances but was only convicted for 2. One of the convictions was made without the child's body ever being found. To this day the only body ever found of any of the missing children involved was the first one he was convicted of. Do yourself a favor and watch this because it really messes with your emotions. I cwould at one second beleive he really was innocent but the next moment be totally reversed. I still don't know what to think of him to be honest.... It is a very eerie film and will creep you out guaranteed.
