Review of Crooks and Coronets (1969) by Louise C — 30 Apr 2017
This whimsical comedy is not well known, but I like it. Two crooks come to an English stately home with the intention of robbing the owner (eccentric Edith Evans), and instead, finding her impoverished, help her and her grandson (Nicky Henson) to help them make more money by improving the home, visitor facilities etc.
Then some other crooks turn up and want to spoil everything. There are delightful cameos by Hattie Jacques and Clive Dunn as a bemused camping couple who get caught up in the battle of the crooks. It's great fun.
