Review of Crooked House (2017) by Dann M — 13 Sep 2018
The Agatha Christie murder mystery Crooked House is a classic crime thriller. When her grandfather is poisoned Sophia de Haviland hires her former lover and private investigator Charles Hayward to look into the case before the murderer can cover their tracks, and it becomes a public scandal.
Featuring Christina Hendricks, Glenn Close, and Gillian Anderson, the cast is pretty solid, and newcomer Stefanie Martini gives an especially strong performance. Also, the script does a good job at building intrigue and suspense.
Still, there are some pacing issues, and at times the plot can be a bit confusing. Yet while it has some problems, Crooked House delivers a dark and chilling murder mystery.
