Review of Cronos (1993) by Stuart P — 19 Mar 2010
I was browsing through the library movie collection and happened upon this one. I am an admirer of Del Toro's films but never mustered up the guts to sit down and watch this one. I finally did. It did not disappoint. It certainly would if you were expecting to see a mordern gore-infested so-called horror flick.
I loved the original idea this film introduced. A different way of acquiring immortality: and there is a price for accepting such a gift. There wasn't any jumpy scenes or overdone blood and gore. The horror was all in what took place. Perlman's character brought some good humor into it and there was humor throughout the film that managed to add a bit of light to an otherwise dark and bizarre story.
Certainly not for everyone but I found it pretty entertaining and definitely worth watching again.
