Review of Cronos (1993) by Anne F — 25 Oct 2010
Cronos is an intriguing film which starts with the discovery of an ancient golden device hidden in a statue which we are told will prolong life. An antique dealer finds the device whilst its instructions end up in the hands of a dying businessman, who naturally would like to find the device.
I didn't know much about the film and didn't know which particular bit of the horror genre it explored; I liked del Toro's take on the sub-genre (which I won't name) which made up for a lack of finesse in the plotting and more gore than I like!
