Review of Cronos (1993) by Scott P — 12 Dec 2010

I was so far a totally del Toro virgin and wanted to discover him with his first full length movie. I didn't regret it. Cronos is a dark piece with lyrical and brutal pictures, an mythical story and more references then words.

And I learnt one elementary truth: bloodsucking "vampires" are only sexy when they are young and powerful and not old and desperate. How convenient that they never grew old to all eternity - just like a hungry bug in a golden shell hidden in an archangel statue by a medieval alchemist.
