Offbeat chiller with a melancholy tone, that already shows the magical and inventive touch that Del Toro will later bring to Panâ(TM)s Labyrinth. It maybe doesnâ(TM)t grip quite as much as one feels it ought to in the later stages, but thereâ(TM)s enough here to satisfy horror and arthouse fans alike and is definitely worth checking out.
