For some reason Iâ(TM)ve never heard of this movie before, so I blind bought the Criterion and checked it out. A nice debut for Guillermo Del Toro and an interesting take on the vampire story. Itâ(TM)s got a great set up, and while I was hoping for a bit more near the end, itâ(TM)s still very entertaining, impressively filmed and it has a great score, especially at the end.
Some cool makeup effects and decent gore throughout. Ron Perlman is fun as one of the supporting roles, though he got a little too over the top near the end. Anyway, I enjoyed it.
