Review of Cronos (1993) by Steve G — 16 May 2012
I was really disappointed with this movie. Being a big Guillermo del Toro fan, I was hoping for a movie on the level of The Devil's Backbone and Pan's Labyrinth. While it possesses a thoroughly interesting premise, the execution is plain and predictable--the haunting, surreal artistry that TDB and PL have in spades is completely absent.
Top this with characters who are difficult to relate to and acted to a degree barely surpassing adequate and you've got a letdown, indeed.
